Del Shannon sadly passed away on Feb 8th 1990. ‘Runaway – The Very Best Of Del Shannon’ celebrates one of the most influential and original talents in popular music.
Del Shannon was different from other stars of his generation, but there is no doubting his continued popularity or his rich musical legacy. Unusually he wrote many of his hit singles – he had fourteen in Britain, including six that went Top 5 (they are all included in this compilation of hits and rarities). After Runaway became a No.1 in 1961 there followed a string of classic singles including ‘Hats Off to Larry’, ‘Hey! Little Girl’, ‘The Swiss Maid’ and ‘Little Town’.
